The fifth round of the Ferrari Challenge took place at one of the most historic racetracks in the world, Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In conjunction with the Challenge series, Ferrari Racing Days displayed a bevy of Formula one, FXXs and FXXKs and to top it off nearly 30 new Monzas were on the track! For New Country Competizione and Conquest Racing, it turned out to be a super successful weekend.
In qualifying 1, the P1 drivers went out on a fairly wet track, J. McCarthy #15 (Wide World Ferrari) was able to qualify first. In qualifying for P2, B. Davis (Ferrari of Palm Beach) qualified a very respectable second.
Race 1, McCarthy was able to pull ahead of the field and maintained his first position to the checkered flag. Davis showed his tremendous driving skills and was able to secure a second place podium.
Sunday, our team success continued with McCarthy qualifying first in P1 and Davis qualifying first in P2. Both drivers were able to get a great start and ran away from the field bringing home two wins for New Country Competizione and Conquest Racing.
D. Musial Jr. who has been dominating his class all year struggled a bit at Indy, was able to qualify second in race 2 and held on to a very respectable P3.
D. Musial Sr. qualified in P2 in race 1, battled the entire race and was able to hang on for a third place podium.
In conclusion, McCarthy is leading in points for Trofeo Pirelli P1 and Davis takes a small lead in Trofeo Pirelli P2 category while Musial Jr. has a comfortable lead in Coppa Shell class.
We look forward to Road America in September!
